School Policies

Update: June, 27th 2025

Billing

  • Discounted first lessons are the promotional rate applied to the first lesson in a recurring subscription. The first month of tuition may be prorated.
  • If we don’t hear from you after your first lesson, we assume you are ready to continue with weekly lessons.
  • Tuition is charged on the first of the month, unless paid for in a lump sum.
  • If your payment fails, there is a 4-day grace period before applying a $25 late fee.
  • Tuition remains the same each month and is NOT dependent on how many weeks there are in that month.

Cancellation for Month-to-Month Memberships

  • If you want to discontinue your month-to-month membership, be sure to give us notice by the 15th of the month.
  • Notification given on or after the 17th of the month will lead to billing and enrollment for the subsequent month. There are no exceptions to this.

Recital and Show Fee: $15 per Recital for Single Lesson, 5 Lesson Package, or Charter School Students

  • Recitals are free to attend by family and friends of the performing Student.
  • There are 7–9 recitals throughout the year, and you may enroll in as many or as few as you would like, once your teacher feels you are ready.
  • The $15 Recital and Show Fee pays for set up, clean up, and staff manning the recitals. It is paid for by Single Lesson, 5 Lesson Package, and Charter School Students ONLY. The Recital and Show fee is included in all other Monthly Subscriptions.
  • For families with multiple students that are either Single Lesson, 5 Lesson Package, or Charter School Students, each student will be charged $15 to be a part of a Recital.

First Lesson Pricing: Non-Refundable

  • First lessons are non-refundable and assume you want a weekly lesson.
  • Discounted first lesson pricing: $29 for 30minute, $39 for 45minute, $49 for 60minute.
  • If you are “teacher shopping” the trial lesson is the full price of a Single Lesson.

Month-to-Month Memberships

  • Tuition is the same each month and is NOT dependent on how many weeks there are in that month. This means you will have 3–5 lessons each month, depending on studio closures, Teacher Summer Breaks, or a 5th lesson in the months containing 5 weeks.
  • Tuition is NOT dependent on attendance.
  • Glee Music Academy reserves the right to adjust its tuition prices to remain competitive within the current market.

Make-Up Lessons: Please don’t ask the teacher

  • Lessons may only be canceled online through Opus1, or with the Administrative Staff. Teachers are NOT allowed to handle scheduling.
  • All schedule changes require at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations which meet this requirement will generate a make-up lesson. If you think your student is getting sick, cancel your lesson before the 24-hour window to ensure you receive a make-up lesson.
  • Glee Music Academy does not offer any make-up lessons for same-day cancellation unless in the event of an emergency. Please contact the Administrative Staff if there is an emergency that will prevent you from attending.
  • Glee Music Academy does not allow the reschedule of any lesson to another day if within the 24-hour window.
  • Make-up lessons are not provided for group classes at Glee Music Academy. Group Classes, when they occur, are held at the same dedicated time each week (no make-up opportunity exists for them).
  • If you are sick, VIRTUAL IS AN OPTION. If you cannot physically make it to your lesson time, the teacher can give you an online lesson during your scheduled time. Please notify the Administrative Staff if you wish to have a virtual lesson via Muzie.
  • If your teacher cannot make the regular lesson time due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, we will do our best to provide you with a substitute teacher at the same lesson time. If a substitute teacher cannot cover the time slot, students will be notified, and a make-up lesson time will be found. We do not offer tuition credits.
  • If you decide to discontinue lessons, any make-up lessons need to be used before the last calendar date of the final month in the subscription. After your subscription ends, your remaining make-up lessons will be forfeited. You cannot use your make-up lessons after your subscription’s end date.

Virtual Lessons

  • If for some reason you have connection or tech problems during your lesson, we unfortunately cannot schedule a make-up lesson. It is your responsibility to ensure your devices are ready for virtual lessons beforehand.
  • Schedule a tech appointment with the Administrative Staff to ensure you are properly set up and prepared.

Glee Schedule

Glee follows SVUSD’s school schedule for major holidays and breaks. Here is our schedule:

  • Week of Thanksgiving – CLOSED
  • SVUSD Winter Break – CLOSED
  • SVUSD Spring Break – CLOSED
  • 4th of July – CLOSED
  • Memorial Day – CLOSED
  • Each Teacher is allowed 1 week off for Teacher Summer Break
  • These days off are included in your tuition. Tuition for the months of these closures, or the months with Teacher Summer Breaks are not prorated.

Copyright and Music Purchases

  • Taking music lessons involves buying music supplies. You will be expected to have sheet music or method books for lessons as you study.
  • WAYS TO GET MUSIC: For your convenience all books and sheet music can be purchased through the Administrative Staff, in both physical as well as digital format.
  • Copyrighted Materials must always be purchased and never distributed freely.

Pick Up Your Student On Time

  • Please do not drop off your student more than 5 minutes early. There is no adult supervision in the waiting area, as the teachers are busy teaching.
  • Pick up your students on time, especially if you are the last student of the day. If your lesson ends after the office closes, and the Teacher or Administrative Staff needs to wait with your child for you to arrive, you will be charged $5 per minute.

Media/Social Media Agreement

  • I, the undersigned parent or guardian, hereby grant permission to Glee Music Academy to use my photograph/video and/or the photograph/video of my child. This use could include Glee Music Academy’s website, newsletter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or other publications without further notice, consideration, or compensation.

Injury & Illness Liability Release

  • I, the undersigned parent or guardian, grant permission for my child to participate in classes/activities with Glee Music Academy. In the event of an illness or injury, I hereby authorize the instructors to decide the best course of action. I understand that by participating, there is a possibility that my child could sustain personal injury in connection with their participation. I hold Glee Music Academy, its Administrative Staff, and Teachers harmless from any and all claims of personal illness or injury that my child may sustain during participation in any event at our facility, or at any offsite location. I understand that I will be solely responsible for any and all medical bills that may result from any illness or injury that they may sustain while with Glee Music Academy.

Muzie: Practice and Lesson Assignment Platform

  • Using Muzie: Through this platform, teachers post assignments and multi-media resources for the student. This platform is browser-based and works best on laptops, tablets, or iPads.
  • Ask the Administrative Staff if you need help logging in.
  • For a successful learning experience, teaching professionals recommend between 4 and 7 days of practice per week.

Student Expectations

  • Instruments: You need an instrument at home to practice. You should not begin lessons if you do not have an instrument in your home. We can help with suggestions for purchase or rental.
  • Arrive on time & ready: Each student is on time and ready to learn. This includes bringing their Instruments and Study/Practice Materials/Supplies to each lesson. If a student comes without their Instruments and Study/Practice Materials/Supplies, the lesson time may be cut short due to the student not being prepared to learn. Lessons that have been shortened due to the student being unprepared will not be discounted in price, nor merit a make-up lesson. Substitute books may be provided by the teacher should an emergency arise preventing the student from bringing their Study/Practice Materials/Supplies, but we cannot guarantee an instrument will be available to borrow if their instrument is not a piano.

Substitute Teachers

  • If your teacher is sick or cannot attend your scheduled lesson, one of the other teachers in the same discipline may be the substitute teacher for the day. Please note that if you do not wish to use a substitute teacher, that we cannot guarantee your teacher will be available to fulfill your make-up at a later date.
  • In the event that your teacher unexpectedly needs to leave Glee, we will find a qualified replacement that will satisfy the needs of your student and/or their learning requirements.

Communication For You and Your Student

  • It is the responsibility of the student and/or parent/guardian to check their email/SMS correspondence regularly, and to check the Glee Music Academy Calendar. Any and all schedule notifications are communicated within the Glee Insider newsletter. If your email changes, please inform us of the change to ensure you do not miss these important updates.
