About Steph Smith
Steph Smith joined the Ensemble Performing Arts Team in October 2023 after connecting with Deb Taylor, current CFO. Steph’s musical background is singing camp songs in Girl Scouts and listening to her favorite CDs, but she leaped at the chance to support the people with musical talent and performing arts abilities.
Steph serves as a Staff Accounting specializing in Accounts Payable, specifically all of the non-retail payables. She works with team members in every department as well as RMs and GMs to make sure our bills are being paid correctly and in a timely manner. She also has been handling the AP email for the past year and a half.
Steph comes to Ensemble with 29 years of experience in accounting, administrative duties, food service, healthcare administration, and retail sales. Her first position after obtaining her bachelor’s degree was for a company based in Springfield, MO with multiple branches across the United States. This position gave her valuable experience in working with team members all over the country (this is before Facebook, Zoom, and smartphones!) Steph has multiple degrees, as she initially pursued a degree in Elementary Education (but was told she was too nice to be in a classroom full of kids). She has an Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education, an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting Technology, both from Three Rivers College in Southeast Missouri. Her bachelor’s degree in Business Management is from William Woods University, where she learned to meet deadlines and work with a dedicated group of peers over an extended period of time.
Steph lives in the Kansas City metro area with her sibling, Jordan along with two shared cats, Tinkerbell and Mione. When Steph isn’t in Oklahoma with her other sister and family, she enjoys being a stagehand in a Rocky Horror shadowcast and attending local comic-cons cosplaying her favorite Star Trek characters. She also writes articles, short stories, or poetry. Fun fact: Steph is a self-taught speedreader which helps her keep up with two book clubs.
Steph grew up in a family where Dad loved the Beatles & the Eagles and Mom loved malt shop oldies. Her favorite singers (by decade): Karen Carpenter, Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, Trisha Yearwood, TobyMac.
